# 1 Here Be Dragons Challenge

I know it's all about the dragons. But how can you stop thinking about the guards.

"You, er, want us to attack him?" said the guard miserably. Thick though the palace guard were, they were as aware as everyone else of the conventions, and when guards are summoned to deal with one man in overheated circumstances it's not a good time for them. The bugger's bound to be heroic, he was thinking. This guard was not looking forward to a future in which he was dead.

Fantastic book, story, characters, lines, references. Utterly clever and witty. I want more. I'll get more.

Liniers

Let me introduce you to Liniers

He is an Argentinean cartoonist with a knack for capturing the little moments that make up life. Very powerful, in a heartwarming, enlightening fashion.
Pure genius.

These are my favourite characters: Enriqueta, a little girl who loves reading and has a wonderful imagination, her cat, Fellini and her teddy bear called Madariaga. Those names make me love them even more.

The books on this side are outside my head ... and these ones are already inside.

On a summer day in 1935, thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis witnesses the flirtation between her older sister, Cecilia, and Robbie Turner, the son of a servant. But Briony's incomplete grasp of the adult motives and her precocious imagination bring about a crime that will change all their lives, a crime whose repercussions Atonement follows through the chaos and carnage of World War II and into the close of the twentieth century.

Someone said that you only read a book when you reread it. Calvino said that The classics are the books of which we usually hear people say, "I am rereading . . . " and never "I am reading . . . "
I say that this book can't be read just once.
You may be drawn by the love story and that's just fine. Maybe, it's the war description that calls your attention. Even the drama that unfolds one summer night after a little girl tries to comprehend the world beyond her little self. Each part of this book is equally compelling. The whole of it is mesmerizing. I get the feeling that it wants me to come back, to revisit it and discover what lies behind the descriptions, the character's thoughts, actions.

I will.

A Reading Challenge is such a wonderful idea! You get the chance of reading (which is the greatest reward you could possibly ask for) and of sharing your thoughts with so many people around the world. How could I miss this opportunity?

So here it goes!
